Dialysis, Pain, Uncertainty: Exhausted, Arshad—A Father—Fights for a Kidney Transplant

What initially seemed like a simple urinary infection gradually turned, over the years, into a severe and irreversible illness.

For Nowbuth Mohammad Arshad, the battle began in 2021 when he was hospitalized for a week to treat an infection. At that time, nothing indicated that his kidneys were already deteriorating.

It was only in 2022, during a consultation with an OMCA Group doctor, Dr. Khaalid Mungly, that the reality of his condition was revealed. Arshad then began medical follow-up, hoping to stabilize his health.

But despite treatment, his condition worsened.

Over the years, his creatinine levels kept rising—a sign that his kidneys were no longer functioning properly. By 2025, doctors had no choice but to prepare him for dialysis.

To begin dialysis, a fistula had to be created in his arm. But things did not go as planned.

Arshad underwent three surgeries, with the first two failing—an ordeal that deeply affected him both physically and emotionally.

Beyond the illness, his daily life was also turned upside down.

A truck driver by profession, Arshad relied entirely on his physical strength to work. However, due to the surgeries and medical restrictions, doctors have now prohibited him from doing any physically demanding work.

A difficult reality to accept.

Yet despite the pain and exhaustion, he continues to get up every day and work—because he has no other choice.

Arshad receives neither pension nor social support.

At home, his family depends on him: his wife and two children, aged 11 and 14.

Since starting dialysis, his condition has become increasingly difficult. The sessions are heavy, repetitive, and significantly impact his quality of life.

Each day becomes harder than the last.

Faced with this situation, Arshad and his family made a difficult but hopeful decision: to pursue a kidney transplant.

After reviewing his case, it has been recommended that he travel abroad for evaluation, followed by an incompatible kidney transplant—a specialized procedure that could offer him a second chance.

Today, this intervention represents his only hope to return to a normal life, to work without suffering, and most importantly, to continue supporting his family.

Behind this medical battle is a father fighting every day—not only against illness, but to protect his children’s future.

The OMCA Foundation is appealing for solidarity to help Arshad access this life-saving operation.

He is eligible for Zakaat.
