Urgent Appeal: Baby Aaron Ezekiel Needs Life-Saving Heart Surgery Within Two Weeks

In the arms of his parents, little Ezekiel Aaron Cleo looks so fragile that one hardly dares to touch him. At just four months old, this infant is already fighting a battle that few adults could ever imagine.

Doctors have been clear: without urgent heart surgery, his life is in danger.

Ezekiel’s story began like that of many babies. His mother was expecting a normal delivery. But at the last moment, the doctors had to intervene and perform a cesarean section.

Even before the young mother entered the operating room, unexpected news arrived.

Doctors informed the family that there were complications with the baby. From the moment he was born, Ezekiel had to be immediately taken into care and transferred to the nursery.

For his parents, the fear began within the very first minutes of their child’s life.

Very quickly, doctors announced that Ezekiel had a heart problem and that a series of additional examinations would be required. Hours turned into days, and days turned into weeks.

Instead of returning home with their newborn, the parents faced a heartbreaking ordeal: for nearly one and a half months, their baby remained hospitalized.

Between the nursery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Ezekiel was kept under constant medical supervision.

His parents could do nothing but watch him… through a glass window.

A deeply painful moment for a mother and father who had simply dreamed of holding their child in their arms.

“We could only see him through the window,” they shared. “It was extremely difficult for us.”

During those anxious moments, only family support gave them some comfort.

When an appointment was scheduled at the Cardiac Centre of the Northern Hospital, the parents traveled there on their own. But their baby had to be transported by ambulance in a medical incubator.

The diagnosis was severe: Ezekiel is suffering from an atrioventricular canal defect, along with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome).

This congenital heart defect prevents his heart from functioning properly and forces the little boy to make a constant effort just to breathe and feed.

In daily life, even the simplest actions have become a challenge.

Drinking milk requires immense effort. Ezekiel gets tired very quickly and becomes breathless. While another baby may drink 90 ml at once, he must take very small amounts with long pauses in between just to catch his breath.

His growth has been affected.

At birth, he weighed 2.7 kilograms. Today, at four months old, he weighs only 3.2 kilograms.

His parents live in constant fear.

Even the most basic tasks—carrying him, bathing him, feeding him, changing his clothes or diaper—have become moments filled with worry and extreme caution.

“We love our baby more than anything, but we are always afraid of hurting him,” they shared.

Today, the doctors have given an ultimatum.

Ezekiel must undergo corrective atrioventricular canal heart surgery within two weeks.

Without this intervention, his condition could quickly worsen and put his life at serious risk.

In light of this medical emergency, OMCA Foundation is making an urgent appeal for solidarity to help Baby Ezekiel access this life-saving surgery.

His parents have only one hope: to give him a chance to live.
