At only 1 year old, Baby Aleezah already lives with a kidney that no longer functions normally
When Chandni Devi Sunnia finds out she is pregnant with her second child, she imagines a normal life. A little girl who will grow up surrounded by love, laughter and sweetness.
But during her sixth month of pregnancy, everything swings.
During a routine consultation, her gynecologist noticed a worrying abnormality in the baby’s right kidney. He immediately asks her to continue investigations at the hospital.
At first, no one seems to really measure the gravity of the situation.
«The word of small business insists that zot verify well… parseki mo private gynecologist ti fini find ena enn problem,” says the mother.
And the examinations are underway.
Doctors discover that Aleezah has a malformation that is seriously affecting her right kidney. After her birth, new tests confirm concerns: her kidney is not functioning normally.
Since this day, the life of this little girl of just one year old has been paced by medical consultations, worries… and the silent pain of a mother watching her child suffer without being able to relieve her.
Because behind Aleezah’s smiles lies a difficult reality.
Her mom explains that since baby, when we lay her on her back, she lifts her pelvis as if she was feeling permanent pain. Even the simplest gestures can cause anxiety.
«We are not even able to massage him like the baby… We’re a little scared. »
As the months pass, the concern grows.
Doctors recommend you wait. Still waiting.
But for his mother, every day is a new risk.
Meanwhile, Chandni is trying to maintain a normal life despite the difficulties. She changes jobs several times to be closer to her daughter. Finding a daycare is becoming a struggle too. Aleezah refuses to stay away from her parents, frightened by strangers.
Little by little, thanks to the support of his grandmother and some kind people, the family is holding on.
And despite all she goes through, Aleezah remains a child full of life.
A little girl who likes to eat, discover new flavors, be surrounded and cuddled.
“Li en a very affectionate baby… li content manzé, li content dimounn gatt li”, confides his mom with emotion.
But today, time is running out.
The diagnosis is now clear: Pelvi-Ureteric Junction Obstruction with Hydronephrosis, a condition that requires specialized care to avoid further kidney complications.
Facing late replies, his mother finally decides to turn to OMCA Foundation during the month of Ramadan.
Steps are quickly underway to allow little Aleezah to be cared for in India, where she’ll have to undergo Robotic Pyeloplasty, a delicate surgery aimed at preserving her kidney functioning.
For this young mother, the ordeal is huge.
“I myself used to have an operation… azordi my baby bizin goes through this. She’s very difficult like mommy. »
