A Crushed Foot, A Fight Against Amputation – Sayyed’s Journey of Hope

Foot crushed, bones exposed: At 63 years old, Sayyed struggles to avoid amputation after a work accident

On May 12, 2026, Babulal Sayyed Kader’s life turned upside down in seconds.

An extremely violent work accident literally destroyed his left foot. When he arrived at the hospital, the situation was already critical: torn tissues, torn skin, and bones completely exposed.

Since this day he’s been living in constant pain and a wound that never heals.

Very quickly, the diagnosis falls and freezes the family: a serious infection with evolutionary non-healing, leaving a direct threat. The amputation.

The shock is brutal for his loved ones.

« Banla inn dirr pouizin cut so lipied, we hang that tend… “, entrusts his son.

In the face of this deadlock, the family is trying one last hope and turning to OMCA.

After evaluation of the file, a possibility of saving the member is considered, but in urgent and highly specialized conditions with a 1% chance of saving his left foot.

OMCA intervene with immediate effect.

In a very short time, the procedures accelerate: medical transfer, travel organization, hospital coordination. A race against the clock where every hour counts.

The patient is eventually evacuated to India and admitted to Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, New Delhi where he is under strict medical supervision.

But the fight is far from over.

He must now receive heavy care including VAC dressings, surgical debridging, reconstructive surgery (flap cover) and regular intensive care, in hopes of saving what may still be.

Behind the patient is a man known as hardworking, discreet, and a pillar of his family. A father who has always taken care of the household.

Today, he is the one who is nailed to a hospital bed, far from his previous life.

For his son, this ordeal is a total shock: a succession of steps, anxieties and sleepless nights, between the hospital, formalities and a hurried departure abroad.

The moment of the transfer remains etched in the family memory.

“Kuma the family finn find li in the ambulance pe go… “All inn kumanse cries,” his son told.

Today the family holds on to one thing: hope.

But the cost of treatment and the complexity of the case make the situation extremely difficult.

OMCA Foundation today is making an urgent call for solidarity to allow Sayyed to avoid amputation of his leg.

Sayyed is eligible for Zakaat.

Estimated cost of treatment: MUR 1,251,600
